Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) and Cystitis

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) and Cystitis

May 25, 2022

Urinary tract infections (UTIs), including bacterial cystitis, are the second most common type of infection. UTI can be extremely uncomfortable, and for some people, especially women, they are a recurring health issue.

Cystitis and urinary tract infections (UTIs) can refer to the same condition, but not always. Cystitis involves inflammation of the bladder that can be caused by infectious or non-infectious factors. UTI is an infection of the urinary tract which may include bladder, urethra and kidneys.

Bacterial Cystitis is a urinary bladder inflammation most commonly caused by a bacterial infection.

Much less common is Interstitial Cystitis (IC) or non-bacterial cystitis, which is an autoimmune disorder (caused by own dysfunctional immune system which causes inflammation and damage).

The information below deals with UTIs and bacterial cystitis.

SYMPTOMS:

Pressure in the lower pelvis; Painful urination; Frequent urination; Urine may contain traces of blood.

KEY CAUSES:

Weak immunity; Deficiency of vitamin D, zinc, magnesium, selenium, and antioxidants; Lack of probiotic bacteria clinging to the walls of the bladder which allows pathogenic bacteria and yeasts to multiply; Dehydration; Frequent use of stimulants (especially caffeine and alcohol) and antibiotics (without probiotics); Diet high in sugar, refined products, and acidic foods such as animal protein.

HELPFUL NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS:

Cysticare, Black Seed Oil (Nigella sativa), Cranberry, Bee Propolis, Vitamin D3 (20,000 IU for a week. After that 5,000 IU daily), Magnesium citrate powder (200mg 3 times daily) to relax bladder and help kidneys to convert vitamin D3 to active D4 form; Garlic (must be standardised such as Garlic Max), Uva ursi (herb), Probiotics, Vitamin C, Super Greens, good Multivitamin (Day-vit Probio) or immune formula (Beta Glucan Complex), Activated Charcoal to detox the urinary tract and bladder, Nettle.

EXTERNALLY:

Sit in a very hot water as often as possible or make a hot towel compresses (excellent way to ease pain) and hoot foot bath. You may also try placing an electric pillow on your lower abdomen area to relax bladder, reduce congestions, and sooth the pain. At the same time you should apply very cold compress on your head and neck, especially when you start sweating. Also remember to drink plenty of herbal teas before and after this treatment. Your urine must be pale or transparent (not yellow).

LIFESTYLE & DIET:

Drink 3 x 3-4 glasses herbal teas (nettle, chamomile, etc. raw vegetable juices are also excellent) to flush the bacteria and toxins from the urinary tract and bladder; Eat antibacterial raw foods (raw vegetable juices, garlic, onion, cranberry, cabbages, ginger, etc.); Eat raw sauerkraut every day; Until recovery avoid: sugar, chocolate, cola drinks, stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol, meat products, milk and dairy, acidic foods, white flour products, white rice, refined and processed foods. Instead of sugar use Xylitol (birch sugar) as it has antibacterial properties. Xylitol interferes with the bacteria’s ability to adhere to the infected cells and bladder walls.
